Listening to the voice of God

March 14, 2025 I was invited to speak to a group of 14 men in the Hamilton Unit in Bryan Texas. These men were in a six month training program to become peer coaches in the Recovery Housing Opportunity Program for structured and sober living in units across the TDCJ. On my drive to Bryan I heard God tell me to tell the men that Jesus is the best Higher Power to heal them of their addictions.

I shared with these men my testimony of how Jesus healed me of Squamous Cell Carcinoma in 2014 through the prayers of men in the Michael Unit. ( You can find the full testimony in the cell block prayers post). I also shared with them how Jesus was instrumental in the sobriety of my oldest son, 31 years sober. We broke down the Serenity Prayer: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. Courage to change the things I can and Wisdom to know the difference. We can change how we think, feel, talk and act, we cannot change the disease of our addiction, But God can.

On Monday March 17, 2025 I received a emessage from the trainer who invited me to speak, he informed me that he intentionally withheld information that five of the men were professed pagans, three were muslim, two thirds of the group did not know or follow Jesus. He shared with me how the men’s hearts were touched by my testimony.

Once again God showed me that He is in Control.
